The War On Blood

Facts about our blood banks:

As if there isn’t enough going on in our country to keep us per-occupied. Now, we have to worry about our blood banks being tainted with bad blood. That’s right. Obama has recently passed a bill that allows gay and bisexual people to donate blood. Some statistics to consider: in the year 2013 alone, 81 percent of the newly HIV infected population in the United States were gay or bisexual. The fact of the matter is, we don’t need those kinds of numbers in our blood banks. We need to do just about anything we can to keep our blood banks as clean as possible, and that includes discriminating against gays. Sorry. Not sorry.

Joshua Bayne’s Thoughts On Gay Blood

I just can’t make sense of this criminal act by Obama. First of all, I heard about this bill being passed, and gays and bisexuals can donate blood. It was banned in the 1980’s because of the high rate of HIV found in people who were gay. That’s not discrimination. That’s just a fact. Moving on. I found there is a stipulation for gay and bisexual people who are donating blood: they cannot have been sexually active for an entire year. Wow. Okay. Cased closed, right? Wrong. I did a little simple google-ing, and found that HIV lays dormant for a decade! It is possible for someone to slip through the cracks and donate HIV tainted blood, and the chances of that happening are much higher now. In the year 2013 alone, 81 percent of newly HIV infected people were in the gay community. Those are not the kinds of numbers you want to be gambling against if you actually need blood at some point.

So why did the FDA lift a 32-year ban on gay donating blood? I don’t know, either. We need to do anything and everything we can to enact the ban on gay blood immediately. The statistics are too high. This about this for a second: if you are gay, and your blood is boiling (pun intended) after reading this discriminatory post, would you rather the ban on gay blood to stay lifted, however, only gays and bisexuals are allowed to receive blood from gay and bisexual donors? I didn’t think so. Help us re-impose the ban on gay and bisexual blood donors before this gets out of hand.
