Dear (elected official),

The federal register is out of control. In the year 2015 alone, 81,611 pages of rules and regulations were implemented. This totaled 3,378 rules and regulation in 2015. This means just over 9 rules will need to be scrutinized every day, 7 days a week. A total of 222 pages would need to be read, and decisions would need to be made each day, without a single day off. Congress wasn’t created to review this overwhelming amount of information everyday – especially as the rules and regulations are written as technical and confusing as possible by some of America’s finest attorneys. It is plain to see the government is trying to slip as much as they can through the cracks as possible. We need to put an end to this, immediately!

Congress has the ability to review and disapprove these new rules and regulations through the resolutions of disapproval (ROD), a part of the Congressional Review Act. Unfortunately, in the 20 years of the Congressional Review Act being in effect, only 109 regulations and rules have been revoked through the ROD. This is because the presidential administration, whichever current administration, is very vigilant, and uses as much legal wording to keep a page count as high as possible. Think about it. 81,611 pages in 2015 for 3,378 rules. That is a lot of rules, however, that is an astronomical amount of data for congress to pour through. There is no question that Congress needs to be issuing more RODs. Our current Congress has only issued 13 since 2015. They need to be issuing more to protect our country and American freedom. We need to make it more simple for them. Currently, Congress is allowed 60 days to review each regulation before they are voted on. We need something like 1 day for each page of data per new rule or regulation, and we need Congress to exercise RODs under the Congressional Review Act more vigilantly.

Please do everything in your power to send this message – loud and clear – up the chain of command: the federal register is out of control, and needs to be monitored. It is creating a situation whereby Congress cannot fully review the rules and regulations proposed, and is forced to vote without a full understanding of the consequences. We the people fought for freedom, and created the U.S. Constitution in 1776. In 2016, we the people still believe in the the Constitution, and need to protect it – even if that means preventing our federal register from bullying Congress. Please do everything in your power to protect our rights and the Constitution of the United States of America. Please help create an environment whereby Congress is able to make sounds decisions – not be forced – on rules and regulations coming from the federal register. Additionally, please get the word out for Congress to exercise RODs much more often. Make your voice heard by as many government officials as possible. Be bold. America needs you to speak out. We need you to protect our constitution. You were elected to perform a service to the public, and that includes protecting the Constitution. Please do everything in your power to uphold the integrity of the Constitution. Make your voice heard by as many people as possible. As Dylan Thomas once wrote, “do not go quietly into the night.” Create a twitter account, and post your strong belief in the second amendment – include hashtags #regulatethefederalregister and #therfmovement to join the movement of other representatives across this country who are standing up for what is right.
