Dear (elected official),

It is my right to protect my family and myself with firearms. The Constitution allows me this right, and I don’t want it to change. There are countless examples of U.S. citizens defending themselves with firearms in time of need. The fact that media doesn’t like to report this is misleading to people who are unaware of the benefits of having firearms – especially when the media jumps on any instance of a guns being used in a negative way by bad people.

I am aware of the benefits of gun ownership. I want to retain the right to have and keep my firearms. I am writing you today to tell you about my concerns over gun ownership in the future. I do not stand behind gun registration, and I do not stand behind gun confiscation. Every country that has enforced a gun registry has also confiscated guns. I do not want America to be added to this list. I want you to protect our freedoms, and our rights to gun ownership.

In recent years, growing concerns for overall safety in this country, and around the world, have become more prevalent than ever. Today, gun ownership should be more important than ever, however, every time I turn on the news, it seems like I should be ashamed of myself for owning firearms. This is absurd.

Please do everything in your power to send this message – loud and clear – up the chain of command: gun ownership, whatever type of gun, is a God given right to every citizen of the United States. It is written in the Constitution. We the people fought for freedom, and created the U.S. Constitution in 1776. In 2016, we the people still believe in the the Constitution, and the second amendment – now more than ever. Please do everything in your power to protect our rights and the Constitution of the United States of America. Please uphold our right to bear arms. Make your voice heard by as many government officials as possible. Be bold. America needs you to speak out. We need you to protect our constitution. You were elected to perform a service to the public, and that includes protecting the Constitution. Please do everything in your power to uphold the integrity of the Constitution and the second amendment. Make your voice heard by as many people as possible. As Dylan Thomas once wrote, “do not go quietly into the night.” Create a twitter account, and post your strong belief in the second amendment – include hashtags #righttobeararms and #therfmovement to join the movement of other representatives across this country who are standing up for what is right.

Please do this for me and my family. Please do this for you and your family. Do this for our children, and our children’s children. Uphold the integrity of our Constitution.
